Progress Update

Not much new to report, except that Driftmetal has been bouncing around in the Top 10 of both the Steampunk and Cyberpunk categories ever since it reached the #1 spot in Steampunk a couple of weeks ago. It’s been seeing steady download numbers since the post-promotion plummet, with a higher average than before as positive reviews continue to trickle in. Driftmetal II has had a few pre-orders, and I’m excited for release day on April 2nd.

I keep wondering whether pre-order numbers of Book Two with a first-in-series free are supposed to be equivalent to what purchases would be if that second book were already out. My guess is that there are probably some people who just don’t pre-order things unless it’s an absolute must-have for them, or if it’s a matter of limited supply or some special bonus offer. With an e-book, the only real reasons I can think of to do a pre-order are that either you think you’ll forget when it comes out, or that you simply must begin reading it the instant it drops.

Progress on Driftmetal III: The Clockwork Legion is moving right along. I expect to be finished in a little under two weeks, at which point I’m looking forward to getting back to Children of the Wastes, Book Two in the Aionach Saga. I’m also having new cover artwork commissioned for that series, so I’ll be back with another post or two where I talk about book cover design and my thoughts on what might make for a more compelling package. Covers sell books, and if you think differently, you might want to tune in for that post.
